FACTUM

Worked examples · Data in and out

The round trip: admitted, then retrieved.

A document is admitted through a declared reader. Each fact is stored with where it was read: its byte position and the exact text there. Asked for again, each fact comes back with that position, and anyone can open the document at it.

The problem

Data that is moved, migrated or loaded into another system should change in format and never in content or meaning. Regulators of records that must be trustworthy say so in those words, and ask that it be checked.

Checking it needs each value to carry where it came from. A value with no origin can be compared with nothing.

Recorded outputOne intake of the demonstration's own synthetic invoice, the read-back of what was admitted, two Finder searches, and one intake of bytes that are not a document. No AI engine was configured.

In: every fact read, with where

POST /api/tenants/{tenant}/documents?filename={file}&scopeId={scope}&sourceName={name}

0abstentions, recorded apart and never admitted as facts

18 fact(s) admitted about "(per-fact)" from origin "syn-inv-01-complete-import.html"; 0 duplicate(s) skipped; 0 rejected; 0 abstention(s) recorded separately and NOT admitted as facts.

Out: each fact, with its position

GET /api/tenants/{tenant}/documents/{sha256}/admitted?scopeId={scope}

Check one yourself: the document is the one the demonstration certifies, sha256 409c2b8b6b3a9e9731ee590dd552e4b4179c284d5aecfbdcee144a78b2720104. Offsets count bytes from the start of the file.

Found by address

The Finder takes a word and returns the addresses of the declared questions that carry it: 2 for "demurrage", 22 for "total". It finds where something is declared, never what a document says.

Each address is the call that reaches it, and some are ready to compose into a checklist of one's own.

What is not a document is refused at the door

Sixty-four bytes that are no known format are refused at intake, by name, and nothing is stored.

refusedbytes_unrecognised remedy different_input

Recorded outputThe refusal, status 422.
bytes do not begin with "%PDF-" or "PK\x03\x04" (saw "\u0000\u0001\u0002\u0003\u0004\u0005\u0006\u0007"), and do not score above the dialect floor as delimited text - this seam reads PDF bytes, an OOXML container, HTML source, or a csv, and will not attempt an unrecognised one

WHAT ADMISSION RECORDS

What was read from the document, where it was read, and what the readers declined.

NOT ATTESTED

That an admitted fact is true. Admission is a record of reading. A question asked of admitted data is certified by a certificate, which states its own boundary.
